Tips on the Runway:
Why runways are trickier than print.
When modeling for something printed, its easy to fix your pose. You can take a hundred shot and pose in a million different ways to get that one shot. However, it Runway modeling, it is harder because once the moment is gone, it is lost forever.
So, my tip in getting it right:
1. Practice your angles in the mirror. I know I look awful in 3/4th view. What about you? Practice hiding your flaws and showing off your assets. Ex: My arms look awful handing out. So, I extend them sideways or tuck them beside me.
2. Confidence level not there? Walk in the mall. Walk in the mall wearing something outrageous and while walking, pretend it is the runway. Cross those legs in front of each other. Pose while looking at the store fronts. Note: you'll never know these people anyways. However, your pictures will be immortalized. Look good in front of the camera and to hell with everyone else. If you are confident, people will praise you. If you are not, people will criticize you. Look at Tessa.
3. Show the designer's creation as best as you can. Twirl that cape, wave those skirts. Take a bow, take a spin. Make the dress move and make sure to move along side it. That is the point of the show.
4. If you trip, get up and smile. Take a small bow. Make it look as if you meant it. This need a bit of acting skills.
5. Working with dogs/children/props. When working with live props, they can tend to be unpredictable. Hold the reigns well and make the best out of the situation. This need a bit of acting too. What happens when your dog misbehaves: smile and act as if it was part of the show. Oh yeah, don't let go of the leash. For the big dogs, the trainer/owner will be present. Our runways will be tricky because there is no definite runway this show. You will be among dogs and owners. Hold your leash tight and make the dog feel you are superior/Alpha. You are in control of the situation. It wouldn't hurt to bribe them with a bit of food.
So, the rest will be up to your judgement.
Good luck and Break a Leg! But not literally.
